The OTR Limited Edition “Rhine” Pocket Knife pairs a hand-finished Damasteel® Rose™ DS93X™ blade with a precision-machined 6AL-4V titanium handle and pocket clip. An acid etch reveals the layered character of the steel, giving every blade a pattern distinctly its own. Each blade is cut from raw bar stock, milled to final profile and lock geometry, then ground, 3x polished, etched, sharpened, stropped, and assembled and tuned by hand by knife designer and maker Tommy Ward in Colorado. Limited to just 30 pieces, The Rhine Pocket Knife is everyday carry at its finest—defined by collector-grade materials and meticulously finished by hand.
meet the maker: Tommy Ward
Tommy Ward has spent more than 15 years designing, developing, and manufacturing products built for real-world use. Trained in industrial design, his career has taken him from large-scale product development and global manufacturing to premium knifemaking. Today, he leads his own design and manufacturing business, helping transform ideas into purpose-driven finished products.
Tommy’s design philosophy is simple: he believes good design should never exist for appearance alone. Every line, material, and mechanism should serve a purpose, solve a real problem, and improve the experience of the person using it.
For this limited release, Tommy served as both designer and blade maker. In his Colorado workshop, he personally ground, polished, etched, sharpened, stropped, assembled, and tuned all 30 knives. Because each piece was finished in the hands of the person who conceived it, every detail received a rare level of understanding, care, and attention. From the original concept through the final edge, Tommy ensured each knife remained true to the intention behind its design.
“Every design should solve a real problem. If it doesn’t improve someone’s experience, then it probably shouldn’t exist.”
